This internationally-accredited certificate represents the current best-practice and evidenced-based approaches in the field of disordered gambling and gaming treatment. It aims to increase the number of counselors able to address gaming disorders in their current outreach, prevention and clinical settings.

The first step is to complete 15 hours of training on problematic and disordered gaming prevention, assessment and co-occurring issues. INTENTA has been approved to deliver this training. On successful completion of the training, you should review the IGCCB application requirements and submit your documentation and fees via their website.

The International Gambling Counselor Certification Board (IGCCB) offers international certifications that assure a body of qualified and competent professionals working in the field of clinical treatment of individuals with at-risk, problematic and disordered gambling and gaming, and their families.

The INTENTA training is the first step to gaining the International Gaming Disorder Certificate. The certificate is separate to the INTENTA training and is managed by the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board. To discuss the qualification and associated costs, over and above the INTENTA training fee, contact the IGCCB.

Yes – but you may find it challenging to complete. The training assumes you have experience with clinical terminology, case formulation and counseling. The training alone does not qualify you to present yourself or your practice as a ‘gaming disorder specialist’ and should not be used as such. The International Gaming Disorder Certificate requirements are separate from INTENTA training. For more information, contact IGCCB.

Yes – most of the INTENTA training focuses on the specific issues that you will see in your prevention work. For example, psycho-education presenters will benefit by acquiring a comprehensive understanding of problematic and disordered gaming. For the International Gaming Disorder Certificate, prevention specialists may apply providing you can demonstrate 50 direct contact hours on the subject of gaming disorder and meet the other requirements outlined on the IGCCB website.
